Progress Update
Cardiff Bay - FE 24-105mm F4 G OSS - 1/125 sec - f/4.0 - ISO 160
It’s been just over two months since I last posted here, and although it’s flown by, life has been full — in the best kind of way. I haven’t had as much time as I’d like to focus on photography, but the time I have had has been spent well, shared with family, friends, and the camera when I’ve managed to get out.
Photography-wise, I’ve been slowly working through the growing archive of unedited shots. There’s been a conscious effort not just to keep adding to the pile, but to start making a real dent in it — and the gallery reflects that progress. I’ve enjoyed not just getting out and shooting, but finally sitting down to give some overdue attention to sets I’ve been excited to revisit.
Packwood House (NT) - FE 24-105mm - 1/250 sec - f/11 - ISO 64
There’s always the temptation to skip over older photos in favour of the newest shiny set, and that’s exactly what happened last weekend. The original plan was a local bluebell woodland walk, but a last-minute decision led me out at 4 a.m. to chase the sunrise in Broadway village, Cotswolds. Totally unscouted and totally worth it — more on that trip soon in a separate post. I edited a few shots as soon as I got back, but that quick dip into the fresh batch reminded me I still had plenty of untouched collections waiting.

My Instagram has been updated too! Whilst this may have been frustrating, I will persevere to improve how they are presented. It’s a rigid format, so maybe a more selective approach will do the trick.
The plan moving forward is to update the blog with more dedicated posts about specific outings and what I learned along the way. In the meantime, I’ve uploaded six new photo sets to the gallery — everything from Packwood House (National Trust) to Cardiff Bay (a work-adjacent walk), Stowe Gardens, Fountains Abbey/Studley Royal (NT again), a stroll around Covent Garden, and a great day out at Dudley Zoo and Castle with my good friend Rebecca, shooting with an 85mm challenge in mind.
Patelely Bridge - FE 24-105mm - 1/100 sec - f/11 - ISO 100
There are still more sets waiting their turn — including Pateley Bridge, Derwentwater, and that Broadway sunrise — and I’m looking forward to working through them. While there aren’t any scheduled photography trips coming up, the ad hoc approach is working well, and these spontaneous outings keep things fresh. Getting out with the camera has been the perfect creative reset, especially when work gets intense. It’s a solid reminder of how valuable it is to have something like this in your back pocket.
I’m genuinely excited to share more soon. There’s a sense of momentum building, and I feel like things are starting to click a little more, even if I haven’t paused to reflect properly. Hopefully, that progress shows in the images. Keep an eye out — just maybe don’t hold your breath!
